There and Back Again
03:41
|
|||
Golden hearted and silver tongued
Diamonds in her eyes of platinum
Molten footsteps follow where she runs
Chasing down her dreams of moon and sun
Dancing through the fire of forgery and anvil drum
A steely eye shines through the cannon’s sound and pounding hum, that’s still to come
Golden hearted and silver tongued
Beguile the eye of an envious one
Rock is singed while torches fail anon
The girl is swept from view and all is gone
Dancing through the fire of forgery and anvil drum
He steals away the beauty of her eyes; the moon and sun, all that he’s won
And in the final call of one last mountain’s mighty thrum
Shining through the fire and forgery of war since gone
Dust will rise and fall about the one girl dancing on, for days to come

Railroad Bill

Railroad Bill, Railroad Bill
He doesn’t work and he never will
And its ride, ride, ride
Buy me a chicken, sell me a wing
Look like I am working but I ain’t done a thing
And its ride, ride, ride, ride
Railroad bill was a mighty mean man
Shot the midnight lantern out of the brakeman’s hand
Ride, ride, ride, ride
I’m goin’ up a mounting, going out west
Fourty four pistol, sticking out my vest
And its ride, ride, ride
Railroad bill well he took my wife
Said if I don’t like it, he will take my life
And its ride, ride, ride, ride, ride
Railroad bill, railroad bill
Rolling up a cigar, with a ten dollar bill
And its ride, ride, ride, ride
Gonna find me a pistol, long as my arm
Gonna kill everybody, that’s ever done me harm
And its ride, ride, ride
And its ride, ride, ride

Some people give it
While others do take
Those who need it
Some people say
Some just take it
For granted everyday
La da de da da
One morning you’ll wake up
Smile cause she’s near
Next thing she’ll tell you
The last thing you’ll wanna hear
Love is an easy thing
Love is an easy thing
Love is an easy thing
To lose
You’ve given up
When I’ve given in
What’s the use in trying
Is it impossible to win?
La da de da da
All of the lovers
And all of their toys
Join each other
Together rejoice
Love is an easy thing
Love is an easy thing
Love is an easy thing
To lose

On the Rise
04:33
|
|||
I remember a time so black and bleak
Open road stretched before me
A new time, a new place, changes I couldn’t foresee
One simple choice, a leap of faith, no idea where I would land
But suddenly, fell so quick, finding the key in the palm of your hand
A trick of fate, we found each other, in dire times for all
I thank the stars, each and every night
That we somehow heard their call
A humble smile, a sideways glance, feeling so unsure
All that was known, never been in love before
In my hour of darkness, you found me, brought me to my best
My soul so full, pouring from my chest
A lovely night, a blushing morn, the light glowing in your eyes
Knew in that moment, things had changed, I was on the rise
One simple choice, a leap of faith, no idea where I would land
Now time has passed, change has come, still by your side I stand
A trick of fate, we found each other, in dire times for all
I thank the stars, each and every night
That we somehow heard their call
A lovely night, a blushing morn, the light glowing in your eyes
Knew in that moment, things had changed, I was on the rise
I am on the rise

Down the Line
03:29
|
|||
The ash falls on the pine
Come and follow me down the line
Early one May, they passed our way
With a whistle outside the door
He looked in my eye and said
I seen that you’ve tried
To get out of this town before
Where the aspen meets the pine
Come and follow me down the line
The steam rolling high fills the spirit with wide
Visions of lands afar
Over the peaks where the warm breeze speaks
Of waves upon the shore
So I climbed on board with willing accord
To work in laying the iron
Driving the spike from dawn until night
I’d leave that valley in scorn
Where the aspen meets the pine
I went to work far down the line
John A. had a plan and each willing young man
Was sent to work up the rail
But old Mac didn’t feel the hot blast at his heels
That shook my heart beyond the pale
Blood and sweat fell from that mountainous hell
As our numbers slowly declined
One soul was gone for each mile we moved on
and I prayed the next wouldn’t be mine
I prayed amongst the pine
That I wouldn’t fall upon the line
Early one morn, he passed by my door
When the frost was still fresh on the ground
I was up on the line, doing my time,
When he brought that old mountain down
He looked in my eye and said I see that you’re tired
Of living this navvie life,
So come climb on board, and I’ll point you toward
The only escape from this strife
Where the aspen meets the pine,
Come and follow me down the line
The ash falls on the pine
Come and follow me down the line

On Your Own
03:10
|
|||
I saw you
Standing on that hill alone
And I saw through
The confidence you were trying so hard to prove
I knew you
Were never one to stand alone
For too long it’s true
You’re one when you’d much rather be two
We were once
The very best that I had ever known
Now we are none, But you and I alone
You need not hold onto that which means nothing to ya
Do ya know you’re better off on your own
I’m content with being by my lonesome self
Yet I am always in search of something more
I am always feelin’ lost
All I want and all I need
Is someone to be lost with me

October Skies
03:20
|
|||
Oh these falling leaves
And hazel colours
A world of possibilities
Lies within the autumn breeze
Lovers come and lovers go
More and more this I’ve come to know
There is nothing I would rather see
When I gaze upon the sky
There is no place I would rather be
Than right here by your side
I’d better enjoy these October skies
Before the cold winter blues
This picture and these memories
Will never fade from my mind
A gentle kiss, your rosey blush
Pale skin, warms to my touch
There is nothing I would rather see
When I gaze upon the sky
There is no place I would rather be
Than right here by your side
